FRIEnDS FEST FAQ

  • Friends Fest is happening on November 8 & 9 (Saturday & Sunday) at Grand Coloane Resort.

  • The festival runs from 10:00am to 8:00pm each day.
    Workshops and contests have specific schedules, check our website for the latest timings and most updated rundown.

  • Yes! Entry to Friends Fest is free. Come enjoy the atmosphere, performances, talks, pet-friendly marketplace and many food & drinks booth, perfect for an afternoon getaway.
    Some activities (like workshops, contests, and Paws & Picnic) require pre-registration and have a participation fee.

    Also there are many special food and drinks booth, perfect for an afternoon getaway.

  • No registration is needed if you’re just coming to explore, shop, or chill.
    You’ll only need to sign up through our website if you’d like to:

  • Grand Coloane Resort
    1918 Estrada de Hac Sa, Coloane, Macao

    • By car: Parking is available at the resort (There is limited parking so on a first come, first served).

    • By taxi: Simply tell the driver “Grand Coloane Resort.”

    • By bus: Take routes 21A, or 15 directly to the resort’s bus stope

    • By free shuttle bus: Departure from Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau daily to Grand Coloane Resort at 10:30am/12:15pm/5:15pm/6pm. Do note that no dogs are allowed on the shuttle.

  • Yes, parking is free of charge, but there’s limited parking at the resort.

  • Yes, Rain or shine Friends Fest is on!
    We’ll have covered areas and tents for activities, workshops, and stalls. Bring an umbrella or raincoat for you and your pup just in case.
    In case of a typhoon, our team will contact all participants that signed up for any paid activities.

  • Absolutely! Even if you don’t have a dog, there’s plenty to enjoy, such as live performances, talks, shopping, great food, tasty drinks, fun community atmosphere and an adoption corner. 

  • Yes, children are welcome (and will love meeting all the friendly dogs!).
    Please make sure young children are comfortable around animals and supervised at all times. There are some activities and booths at are specifically for kids as well, such as bouncy castle.

  • Of course! Many people join to enjoy the vibe, shop, and meet cute dogs.

  • Yes! Pets (dogs) are very welcome at Friends Fest and we encourage them! Just make sure they’re under control at all times and don’t cause any disturbance to others.

  • All dogs are allowed. However, dogs weighing over 23kg or over 60cm are considered large and must wear a muzzle while on festival grounds.

  • As this is our first edition, this year’s event will be for dogs only. We’ll be expanding to include other pets in future events!

  • Yes. All dogs must be licensed and kept on a leash no longer than 1.5m.

  • Yes, large dogs are welcome but must wear a muzzle while within the festival area.

  • Owners are fully responsible for their pets and any loss, damage, or injury they may cause. Please supervise your dogs at all times. Grand Coloane Resort and organizers of Friends Fest are not liable for any responsibilities arising from your pet’s presence at the property.

  • Yes, please keep the festival grounds clean. Pick up any waste, seal it, and dispose of it in the dog waste collection bins provided. A dog toilet area will also be available on site. 

  • If a pet becomes aggressive or disruptive, our team may ask you to exit the event for safety reasons.

  • Dogs are welcome in outdoor areas only, and are not allowed in the outdoor pool area.

    • Bring water, a bowl, and some treats (we have mineral water refill stations onsite if needed, and special doggie menu + pet snack booths are available onsite).

    • Keep your pet hydrated and comfortable. November sun can still be warm.

    • Be mindful of other pets and guests.

    • Take lots of photos and enjoy the weekend!

PETS & PARTICIPATION

Food & Marketplace

  • Yes! There will are food and drink stalls for humans and plenty of treats for dogs, a large variety where you could enjoy either as breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner!

  • Discover local pet brands, handmade accessories, healthy snacks, toys, services such as pet photography and veternary services! It’s a perfect place to shop, snack, and sniff around.

  • Payment method would depend on the vendors. Majority of the vendors will accept Mpay only, for food & drinks stalls it will be through vouchers which you can purchase either through cash, Mpay, or major credit cards.

WORKSHOPS, CONTESTS & ACTIVITIES

  • Yes, there are limited spots for workshops and must be booked through our website before 1st of November.

  • On-site registration may be available for certain number of workshop, only if there are still spots open, but pre-registration is highly recommended and not all would accept walk-in.

  • Workshops include doggy yoga, DIY doggy scarves, DIY dog leash, two different basic doggy training, and even making very cute, super healthy doggy macarons!

  • Yes! We have two main contests:

    Registration closes November 1st. Sign up now online.

  • Prizes for winners include complimentary hotel stays, restaurant vouchers, pet goodies, and exclusive gift sets perfect for pampering your pup and rewarding them for their hardwork.

  • All participating dogs must have viable vaccination records completed within the valid time frame before the event. A copy must be sent to event organizer within 1 week of event. And overall you are responsible for cleaning up after your pets and for the behaviour of your dog. There is a more detailed t&c on the sign-up page for the contest on the Eventbrite site.

  • We have a panel of judges for each of the contests, for the Best Dressed Pup, the scoring and criteria are:

    • Style – Overall look and theme (40%)

    • Creativity & original concept (30%)

    • Execution of costume (20%)

    • Audience Reaction (10%)

    For Talent Pup contest, the criteria are:

    • Creativity – Originality of the trick or routine (30%)

    • Execution – How well the dog performs (30%)

    • Engagement – Audience reaction and enthusiasm (20%)

    • Bond – Interaction between dog and owner (20%)

  • Both contests start at 2pm each day, with Best Dressed Pup held on 8th of November, Saturday and Talent Pup Contest held on 9th of November, Sunday. Make sure if you are participating, you arrive AT LEAST 45 minutes before to register your furry star.

  • Paws & Picnic is a relaxing outdoor picnic on the resort’s garden lawn where guests can enjoy a peaceful afternoon with their dogs. Each picnic comes with a pre-packed basket of food and drinks, plus you can add on treats for pets from doggie menu. It’s a great way to unwind, share a meal, and let your dog play freely or meet new friends in an open, pet-friendly space.

    • Unfortunately no walk-in for Paws & Picnic, all picnic experiences must be pre-booked by 1st of November. If you didn’t pre-book, there is still plenty of open spaces and standing tables for everyone to relax, and you can grab food at our market place.

LOGISTICS & MISC

  • Yes, you are free to come and go as you wish throughout the day.

  • Yes, there will be some shaded zones, and chill areas for both humans and dogs.

  • Yes, the outdoor areas are accessible, but as majority of the area is grass lawns, strollers and wheelchairs with larger wheels are recommended.
